A new stop along the Garonne: Blaye, an emblematic town where heritage, river life and conviviality come together.
Here, the river isn’t just a backdrop, it’s part of the rhythm of daily life, a living link between history, culture and modernity.

An inspiring meeting
Upon my arrival, I had the pleasure of meeting Karine Odo, Director of the Blaye Tourist Office.
A warm and constructive exchange about river tourism, local dynamics and future projects.
In Blaye, you can truly feel a spirit of openness, listening and a genuine desire to give the river its rightful place.
A lunch filled with sharing
Later, I met Marie and Alexandra, passionate tour guides, for a friendly lunch.
We talked about hospitality, heritage, stories shared with visitors, everything that makes river tourism so deeply human.
Their enthusiasm and love for their territory are contagious!
An escale in the heart of the town
The river stop is located right in the heart of Blaye, just a short walk from the Citadel and the town’s shops.
An ideal location for river cruise guests, who can easily explore the city on foot and enjoy its authentic atmosphere.
The escale benefits from a privileged environment, a perfect blend of lively town life and the peaceful flow of the river.
The Citadel: a jewel overlooking the estuary
It’s impossible to speak of Blaye without mentioning its Citadel, majestic and alive with history.
From its ramparts, the view over the estuary is simply breathtaking.
It’s a place where heritage and the river meet, a strong symbol of the dialogue between past and future.
A stop shaped by passion
What I take away from Blaye is the passion of the people who bring it to life every day.
Their commitment embodies what I love about this Tour de France des Escales: human connection, exchange and pride of place.
A heartfelt thank you to Karine, Marie and Alexandra for their warm welcome and their dedication to their territory.
Blaye is an escale with all the right ingredients, 4 vibrant, historic and deeply connected to its river.
