👋 Meeting at the dock
Second stop on my Tour de France des escales: Bourg-sur-Gironde, standing proudly above the Dordogne.
As soon as I arrived, I met Stéphanie Lemaître, Director of the Tourist Office.
We talked about how the destination welcomes river cruise guests, the management of the pontoons, and ongoing projects around river tourism.
What I like most about these encounters is seeing how much work happens behind the scenes: here, everything is well thought out, organised, and focused on quality.

🛥️ A stop designed for river cruising
In Bourg, you can feel a real commitment to the development of river tourism.
Every company is expected, every crew welcomed with care.
The Tourist Office makes sure that first impressions count – practical information, friendly assistance, and even a small welcome gift for cruise passengers.
A simple gesture that says a lot about the spirit of this place.

🚶♀️ From the river to the upper town
Just like in Cadillac, visitors receive a discovery map on arrival.
Starting from the pontoon, I followed the route that gently climbs toward the upper part of the town.
The walk takes you through cobbled lanes, stairways, and old stone gateways — each corner has its own story, and every encounter a smile.
And then, as the path levels out, there it is – an incredible view over the Dordogne.
The river, the rooftops, the light… everything blends perfectly.
It’s one of those moments where you just stop and take it in.
💬 A people-first stop
Bourg is a human-scale stop, built on passion for the river and the region.
Stéphanie and her team know the companies, the crews, and their needs inside out.
They take time to listen, to adapt, and to make sure everyone feels welcome.
A stop that combines warm hospitality, authenticity, and an exceptional setting.
And to me, that’s exactly what river cruising is all about – real places and real people.
